Fish protein hydrolysate powder is an excellent amino acid product. It contains at least 80% hydrolyzed proteins and has been used as a partial substitute for trace amounts of diacea meal to enhance growth, survival and larval development, and to reduce the incidence of skeletal deformities, thereby improving larval quality in freshwater and marine fish.
Protein fraction weights between 1,000 and 10,000 Daltons have a positive effect on larval feeding activity, while lower molecular weight (200 to 2,500 Daltons) peptides have been reported to be beneficial for larval growth, survival and digestive enzyme activity function of the intestines.
